Description
Written on the photo is: "A pair of Suffork Punch [Suffolk Punch] horses owned by Oscar Shirley about 1915, showing the low drop axel gigger waggon [jigger wagon], in use at that time in Aroostook Co., Maine."
The photograph was taken on Kelleran Street with Houlton's Monument Park in the background. Monument Park and the Civil War monument were built in 1909 on land on which the buildings had been burned in the Great Fire of Houlton in 1902.
