Description
Hermann Kotzschmar, a native of Finsterwalde, Germany, came to Portland in 1849, where he became conductor and pianist for the Union Street Theatre Orchestra.
Kotzschmar (1829-1908) later became organist for First Parish Church in Portland, a job he held for 47 years.
