Description
The horn antenna inside the radome at Andover, part of the first satellite communications system.
The Telstar satellite, launched in July 1962, sent and received communications signals to that were picked up by the Earth Station in Andover and similar stations in Pleumeur-Bodou, France, and Goonhilly Downs, England.
The system enabled the first live television transmissions across the Atlantic and later transmitted telephone signals as well.
