Description
Laforest (or La Forrest) Duncan operated a shop in which he cut hair and repaired shoes and harnesses. The shop was located in Hewes Point near the Main Road. Mr. Duncan is standing in front of his shop, Clarence Nevels is the wagon driver and Ralph Pendleton is sitting on top of the hay.
Hewes Point began as a summer resort for vacationers in the 1870s, but eventually became a year round, self sustaining community that had its own stores, post office and wharf.
