Description
Even though a mechanical barrel hoist was in use in 1950 when this photograph was taken, some farmers were still loading by hand. The two men walking beside the truck were lifting barrels onto the truck body. The man on the truck rolled the barrel into place. He also took the potato picker's ticket off the barrel and put it in a ticket box.
The boxes over the rear wheels allowed the truck body to be built lower to the ground. This truck could carry 28 barrels.
