Description
A view of the prison quarry on the right with various prison outbuildings on the center and left. The female prisoners were housed in the building in the rear center of the photo, which shows the shields covering the windows.
The quarry filled with stagnant water and by 1885, presented a health problem. It was drained in 1903 by piping it into the Georges River.
