Description
Lubec celebrated its Centennial on the traditional Independence Day weekend, Monday and Tuesday, July 3 and 4, 1911. This program of events is taken from the book “200 Years of Lubec History 1776-1976.” Assorted activities including baseball games, multiple band concerts and opportunities for dining led to a program at Monument Square with speeches and the unveiling of the Hundred-Year memorial tablet followed by a grand parade and, on the evening of the 4th, fireworks. Memorial Square and the granite tablet remain in place as of 2010.
