Description
Classic in his War of 1812 men’s fashions, this doll wears a cut away coat with tails, slim breeches, and high neck collar, complete with knee-high boots and a tall velvet top hat. By 1812, top hats were a staple in any gentleman’s wardrobe.
Such fashion dolls were designed to display the latest fashion trends in three-dimensional form. While this doll represents War of 1812-era fashions, it is unclear when the doll was made, perhaps after 1820. It is one in a set of eight fashion dolls spanning circa 1787 to 1820.
