A statement signed by members of the Finance Committee of Shaarey Tphiloh shows $330.25 in receipts from July 25, 1902 to Oct. 19, 1902.
The group was raising money to build an Orthodox synagogue in Portland. It was built on Newbury Street and opened in 1904.
Most early records of the synagogue were in Yiddish. The financial statement is in English.
