Description
The Governor Bodwell was a steamboat that traveled from Rockland to Swan’s Island. The steamer burned and sank in Swan’s Island Harbor on March 23, 1931. She was tied up at what is now Kent’s Wharf when she caught fire and they cut her loose so she wouldn’t burn the wharf. A few years prior to the fire, the Bodwell ran aground on the Spindle Ledge at the mouth of the Harbor during a snowstorm.
