Description
The Dixfield Chapel was built in 1901, on lower Main Street, by the Free Will Baptists and Methodists. It was then occupied by the Congregational Church Society and used as an alternate site of worship when the Free Will Baptists and the Universalists merged to form the present day Congregational Church in 1912.
In 1976 with the formation of the Dixfield Historical Society (DHS), the Congregational Church offered the chapel building to the DHS for housing and display of its artifacts and archival materials. The rising costs to maintain extra buildings resulted in the sale of the chapel in 1996, and as of 2013 it is the home of Old Chapel Antiques.
