Description
This proclamation, which accompanied an anniversary booklet, marks Continental Paper Bag Company's official fifth anniversary in business, although the company started operations in 1889. By August of that year, its more than 150 machines were capable of producing 1,000,000 brown paper bags per day. The machines were dismantled in 1936 and the equipment was shipped by rail out of Rumford.
