Description
Nathan Knapp and Rufus Virgin built these grist and saw mills on the Androscoggin River's Upper Falls in Rumford in the late 18th century.
Mr. Knapp was later killed when he slipped on a loose rock and went over the falls. His body was recovered a month later at Canton.
