Description
Charles K. Savage took this photograph of route 3 in Northeast Harbor. Savage worked to get the community to repair and install sidewalks, to put up an attractive fence that would allow for a view to Northeast Harbor, and proper curbing.
Savage was a community activist during the post-World War II period with an interest in maintaining the rural character and native beauty of Mount Desert Island. This scene is an example of a roadside improvement that he was instrumental in obtaining.
