Description
The damage shown is the result of the fire that engulfed Harmon's Corner late at night on July 8th, 1911. Onlookers walk past and stare at the vast destruction that totaled 3.5 million dollars by today's standard. The location of the corner is at the modern day intersection of Main and Elm Streets in Biddeford. Five minutes after the call was received, the Biddeford and Saco Fire Departments discovered they required the assistance of Portland in order to extinguish the flames that were taking over the tenement buildings.
