Description

James Hopkins Smith commissioned Portland architect John Calvin Stevens (1855-1940) to design this summer home in Falmouth Foreside. Smith named the house "Stonecroft."

Stevens started his own architectural firm in 1884 after training in the offices of Francis H. Fassett.
