Description
The Columbian Centinel on July 4 1812 reported a "Very Civil War" detailing and dispelling rumors about military actions in Eastport. "Immediately after the news of war was received a town meeting was held at Eastport, at which it was voted to keep themselves armed, but not to engage on hostilities until further orders or advices;--and the inhabitants (particularly the females and children) were quitting the place."
