Description
Boston area daguerreotypist George Kendall Warren photographed an earlier painting of Joseph Leland (1757-1839), sometime around the year 1850. Originally from Grafton, MA, Joseph Leland later moved to Saco, where he was a successful lumber merchant. The painting's artist is unknown, but the daguerreotype's case is stamped "GK Warren," for the photographer. The painting likely dates from the 1820s or 1830s.
