Description
The new Kittery to Portland Maine Turnpike was dedicated on December 13 1947, at the Portland tollhouse.
The wife of Joseph Sewell, the first chairman of the board, cut the ribbon for the highway. Governor Hildreth gave a speech from the state police car, seen in the lower left of the photograph.
