Description
This portrait of Elizabeth Oakes Smith (1806-1893) is attributed to Jared Flagg (1820-1899).
Smith, a native of North Yarmouth, was recognized as the first woman to climb Katahdin. She was an author, women's rights advocate, and noted lecturer.
