Description
Sarah Sanborn, at home in East Readfield on a school break, writes to her father in Augusta about her "career" as a writer, the loss of one of her eyes in an earlier accident, and her continuing sorrow over the death of her younger brother, Joseph.
She also mentions Civil War generals Ambrose Burnside, ordered to command the Army of the Potomac in November 1862, and George McClellan, who was relieved of his command.
