Description

A closeup of the Broad Arrow seal used to designate the property of King George (1660-1727). The seal is on a bottle that may have been used for medicine. It was found on the British Brig Boxer that was lost in a battle with the Enterprise off Monhegan Island during the War of 1812.

The King's agents marked trees in Maine with the Broad Arrow seal to designate them to be used for English ship masts.
