Description
Hannah Pierce (1788-1873), the eldest daughter of Josiah and Phebe Thompson Pierce, was the first person born at the family homestead in Baldwin.
The house, known as Pierce Place, was built in 1786. Hannah, who remained single, lived in the house nearly her whole adult life. A niece lived with her for many years.
Pierce ran the farm, usually hiring a farmer to do the heavy work.
