Description
The Hollingsworth & Whitney Company mill, photographed here around 1900, manufactured paper products in Winslow. The mill produced 235 tons of paper per day. Business was so successful at the time that the owners of the mill opened a "club house" on site so that the employees could relax while playing pool, bowling, reading in the library, or swimming in the pool. Many of these employees lived in Waterville and walked to work every day.
