Description
This colorful wooden shipping box contained three pounds of boneless codfish from Lord Bros. Company in Portland and was shipped to the Jameson & Wotton store.
The 1907 Maine Agricultural Experiment Station Bulletin has the Lord Bros. Company listed as selling their salted cod for 8 cents per pound. Salted cod fish was a staple in the diet of coastal Mainers. It is still popular in some Maine kitchens today.
