Description
Hunter Davis in front of his log cabin with homemade fiddle, his rifle, and snow shoes on cabin. Greenleaf H. "Hunter" Davis was a hermit hunter and trapper of Shin Pond.
In 1843, Davis, a young man of 26, is reputed to have accompanied Henry David Thoreau for several weeks in the Katahdin Woods.
He celebrated his 98th birthday May 6, 1915.
