Description
Belle D'Arcy (1872–1936) was born in New York City and performed on Broadway from 1896 to 1932. She became best known for her role in the 1933 film Trails of Adventure.
D'Arcy served as the second lead at the B.F. Keith Theater on Congress Street in Portland, which operated from 1908 until the 1960s, when the building was demolished. Before transitioning to exclusively showing movies in the 1920s, the theater was known for its stage and vaudeville shows, which remained popular in the U.S. and Canada until the 1930s. D'Arcy remained active in the theater until her death in Portland at the age of 64. This photograph includes her autograph.
