Description
A Ben Zuckerman evening or theater coat, this formal jacket from Lord & Taylor department store features a wide lapel, decorative single button enclosure, and a classic A-line silhouette.
The rayon coat is associated with Marion Pierce Johnson (1904-1987) of Portland and Cape Elizabeth. Her sister Elinor S. Pierce worked for many years as a Lord & Taylor buyer. Elinor reportedly had the dress made especially for Marion, perhaps altered from a ready-to-wear design.
