Description
Maine Republicans saw 1988 as their "opportunity" year, with Olympia Snowe, Bill Cohen, and John McKernan running for political offices. This shirt commemorated the April 15-16 Maine Republican state convention in Bangor with the slogan, "Maine Republicans, moving Maine forward."
Snowe won her race for the US House of Representatives and served concurrently as First Lady of Maine since her spouse, John (Jock) McKernan also won his race for Maine governor.
William "Bill" Cohen won his race for US Senate, a role he served in from 1979 to 1997.
