Description
This two piece electric blue satin wedding dress has a fitted, long bodice which splits in the front with a longer back and a front button closure with cut steel buttons. The skirt has a top of plain material with pelated tiers in blue and gold geometric designed satin material with hip improvers on both sides.
It is shown in the display entitled "Godey's Ladies: An Exhibition of 19th Century Dresses held at the Brick Store Museum in 1997. Godey's Lady's Book, which inspired this exhibition's title, was one of the most popular ladies' books of the 19th century. Each issue contained poetry, beautiful engravings and articles of interest to the women of that time.
