Description
Frederick Hale, a Portland lawyer, served in he Maine House of Representatives from 1905-06 and in the U.S. Senate from 1917-1941. He was a member of the Republican National Committee from Maine from 1912-1918. This photograph is signed, "To A. Edwin Smith from Frederick Hale."
Hale's father and grandfather had both been United States Senators.
