Description
This lantern was used on the Maine Central Railroad. The name of the railroad was imprinted on the top of these lanterns.
Maine Central Railroad began operating in the late 1840s. By the early 1900s it had expanded into one of the largest railroad companies in Maine carrying passengers, materials for the paper industry, and other goods. In 1981, Maine Central was absorbed by Guilford Transportation Industries of North Billerica, Massachusetts.
