Description
Fort Kent and nearby towns along the St. John River are situated in a floodplain. The river has often flooded communities on both sides, particularly during the spring thaw. As in 2008, these floods have at times had devastating effects.
Taken from the eastern side of Station Hill, the photograph depicts a large area now occupied by Riverside Park. St. Louis Church and other buildings along East Main Street are on the left.
