Description
Arthur Schuh photographed Swearingen Motors, a Lincoln Mercury dealership on Forest Avenue in Portland, in 1949. Schuh, a professional photographer and entrepreneur, served as a Lieutenant (Junior Grade) in the U.S. Navy Reserve during World War II. While stationed in Portland, he captured striking images of the city’s military and civilian life. He likely took this photograph as part of a freelance assignment after the war.
