Description
This photograph was taken on April 6, 1901 during the Great Fire of Lisbon Falls. The view is looking up Main Street of downtown Lisbon Falls. We can see a house burning, that is located accross the street from the Lisbon Falls Public Library.
The fire of 1901 destroyed the entire downtown of Lisbon Falls leaving only two businesses standing. In total, 31 buildings were destroyed and 50 families were left homeless. The damages of the fire at the time were estimated to be $200,000.
