Description
This photo is taken looking across the Androscoggin River from Durham at Lisbon Falls. On April 6, 1901, the entire business district of Lisbon falls burned to the ground. In total, the fire destroyed 31 buildings and left 50 families homeless. This image depicts the smoldering ashes that lower Main Street of Lisbon Falls has been reduced to following the horrific event.
