Description
A portrait of George Washington Pierce (1805-1835), a native of Baldwin and a Portland lawyer.
Pierce, the youngest child of Josiah and Phebe Pierce, was an 1825 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Bowdoin College and prominent in Democratic politics.
He was married to Anne Longfellow of Portland, sister of the poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
