Description
Josiah Pierce (1861-1902), who was born in Russia where his father, Josiah Pierce (1827-1913) was working, was a major of engineers for the U.S., and fought in the Spanish-American War.
He worked as a civil engineer.
Pierce, the sixth in a line of family members to be named "Josiah," was the son of Josiah Pierce and Martha Lander Pierce. He grew up in Russia, Portland, and London and was educated at King's College, Cambridge. He was a civil engineer.
He married Ulrica Dahlgren. They had two children, Josiah U. Pierce, born in 1892, and Vinton Pierce, born in 1896.
