Description
An unidentified architect or carpenter posed for a daguerreotype portrait holding a symbol of his trade: a carpenter's square.
An 1841 Maine Charitable Mechanic Association banner includes an image of a square, much like the one in this man's hand, as a symbol of the house wright's group.
