Description
Members of Bangor’s Jewish community have long supported causes like the Jewish National Fund, which plants trees in Israel. Bangor’s Jews also invested in bonds issued by the State of Israel.
This fund-raising dinner in Bangor featured William Cohen, who was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1972, was later a U.S. Senator and secretary of defense under President Bill Clinton.
Cohen grew up in Bangor. His father was a Russian Jewish immigrant.
