Description
A large feast was prepared for Buxton's Centennial in 1872. The townspeople worked for two days just to prepare the tables and bower. Food was loaded onto the tables and was free for all.
Great numbers of people attended and audience seating was arranged for 4,000. Speakers, including Gen. Joshua Chamberlain, addressed the attendees and a variety of music was presented. Standing in the foreground is Nancy Creasey, wife of Rev. George W. Creasey.
