Description
This early Princeton baseball team was called the "Princeton Nine", and the picture was taken around 1908. In the back row from left to right are: Archie Bushaw, Manley Bates, Hod Bryant, Horace "Hod" White, Tom Elsmore, Lester Fitch, and Edmund White.
In the middle row is the manager, Thomas White, a Civil War veteran.
In the front row from left to right are: Harold White, Tayler Pike and Porter Pike.
Lester Fitch and Porter Pike were pitchers; Harold White and Taylor Pike were catchers; and "Hod" White played first base.
In the 1900 U.S. Federal Census Thomas White, of Princeton, was listed as having one arm. It also listed three of the team members as being his sons - Edmund "Ed" White, Horace "Hod" White and Harold White.
