Description
The schooner Equator was burned and destroyed by the British, during the war of 1812, in 1814 at Biddeford Pool in Maine. An assault by the British Ships, that bombarded the coast resulted in the destruction of the shipyard and boats moored there. This photograph shows the skeletal remains of the Schooner Equater, owned by the Cutts family. Erosion of sea water at the Pool in 1957, resulted in sections of the boat's remains becoming visible.
