Description
ARYAN was the last wooden full-rigged ship built in the U.S. for commercial purposes. She was built in 1893 at the shipyard of C. V. Minott of Phippsburg.
She carried cargoes mostly between New York and West Coast ports, traveling around Cape Horn. After years of successful service, she burned in the Pacific Ocean, Dec. 24, 1918.
Twenty-two of the 30 people aboard were rescued.
