Description
FX Marcotte, a furniture business started in 1888 by Francis Xavier Marcotte and one of the oldest continually operating furniture stores in Lewiston, is in the yellow building on the corner. At the time the photo was taken, the red four-story building was a hotel; it was later turned into a parking garage. The photo was taken by Gridley Barrows; his notes on the slide say "Hotel & Furniture Store Lincoln St." These buildings are at the intersection of Lincoln and Chestnut Streets in Lewiston.
