Description
Edward M. Patten (ca. 1819-1893) of Portland served as quartermaster for the 1st Maine Cavalry. He received his commission Oct. 11, 1861 and resigned May 8, 1862.
Patten worked as an auctioneer for Merrill & Co. in Portland, and with his father, Stephen W. Patten, and in an auction and commission merchant company under his own name.
He went to San Francisco in about 1872, where he also was an auctioneer.
