Description
Capt. Granville F. Sparrow (1837-1907) of the 17th Maine wore this frock coat as part of his Civil War uniform. Sparrow enlisted as a Sargent, and rose in rank to Lieutenant in Co. A. He was promoted to Captain of Co. B. The shoulder bars are for the rank of Captain.
