Description
Wilmot H. Chapman, born in January 1846 in Nobleboro, enlisted in Company K of the 16th Maine at the age of 16. He served from August 14, 1862 until June 5, 1865 and rose to the rank of second lieutenant.
He was wounded in battle at Spotsylvania Courthouse, Virginia on May 10, 1864 and was taken prisoner near the Weldon Railroad, Virginia, in August 1864. He survived his ordeal and the war.
