Description
Built by William "Cook" Hammond, a prosperous farmer and lumberman. This building was attached to the main house and was built as a summer kitchen and sleeping quaters for hired hands. The sill are as much as 55fts.long and attached with square nails. This building could have easily been converted to a fort. The upstair windows are level to the floor and the building was stituated on the banks of the St. John River in Hamlin Maine. At the Village it houses a potpourri of Church artifacts including a replica of the first Van Buren Catholic Church built by Andy Ferretti.
This building is now located in Acadian Village, Van Buren, Maine.
