Description
This large stately home on lower Weld Street in Dixfield was built by Frank Stanley in 1887. The original ornate tower was replaced by the three-storied facade shown in this photo. Subsequent owners were George Merrill, George and Abbie Howe Gray (who had a Merry-Go-Round in the barn/stable), George Solie, and Clayton and Sheila McKay. Charlotte and Dan Louvat purchased the house in the early 1990s and began an extensive renovation. Charlotte located her hair salon, The Cutter's House, there as well. Sadly, this beautiful old home was lost to a devastating fire in 2014.
